What does "XML" stand for?

    Should this be what XML stand for, if so, XML is just HTML on steroids?
    "Extensible Markup Language." The name emphasizes the key feature of the language as it will be seen by an HTML user - the ability to define your own tags and attributes, which, of course, HTML does not allow. And PHP XML - http://www.phpkode.com/scripts/categor..., what the relation between PHP and XML?

    Hi,

    The main difference between HTML and XML is their purpose. HTML was invented to display data, but the main goal of XML is to store data and transport it. The similarity is that they are both markup languages.

    PHP, like many other languages can open/modify/create XML files. This would be the relation with XML. It's fun stuff if you're passionate and you should search the web if you're interested in these technologies.
