  Is there anyway to make the backgrounds transparent instead of a hex color?

  Yep, in the XML, setting the background transparency.

  ok well I've tried and failed.. I'm loading the player into an iframe and am trying to get the below incorporated into the mp3 player settings.xml

  You must use the XML, as there is a background directly in Flash. It's not useful if you edit it in the html.
