This component allows you to display news captions by different categories.
The names and the news captions for every category are customizable in the newsbanner.xml file located in the project/deploy/newsbanner/xml folder.
Each news caption contains information about the small thumbnail image and the bigger image which appears on the left side of the news banner. They can be the same or different images. It's your choice. The title and the description also can be different in the both areas.
On the news caption rollover, on the right, the caption will be selected and a bigger news caption will be displayed. The bigger news caption on the left (the title and the description) will hide after an amount of time. That amount of time is also customizable in the newsbanner.xml file. Also, every news caption on the left is clickable. The link you want the user to go, for every item, can be set in the XML file.
The number of items displayed on a page can also be set in the XML file. They will resize, and try to fit in the component. If you entered a bigger number of news captions for a category, multiple pages will be created so the user will see every article caption for every category.
The position of the navigation bar can be set to be on top, or on the bottom. The text field which displays the current page can be positioned on the left or on the right.
If the description or title will exceed the news caption's width and height, that exceeding text is hidden. The title for the selected news caption, however, will scroll horizontally and the user will see the whole title.
From a visual stand point, in the newsbanner.xml file you can edit colors for almost every piece of the component. Almost every margin, or padding if you want, for the component pieces can be set.

I bought this component. Everything is perfect but... I cannot use polish language letters like "ż,ć,ą,ę,ź,ń,ś" etc. Is it a way to solve this problem. I changed encoding in XML file to "iso-8859-2" but it didn't work. What should I do?
on 20/12/10
You'll have to embed to font that contains these characters in the flash project. I think you can leave the encoding for the XML file to "UTF-8".
This tutorial will help you embed the font(s):

Thanks for downloading our component.

Is there a way I can make the background transparent? Cause I try to control it on the xml code file it doesn't seem to work. Maybe I am missing something. My reason is, I want to show the background image I have on the div container.
REF:
backgroundTransparency = "90"
backgroundColor = "0xff9900"
-or is there a way I can just link the image on the backgroundColor= img src? (something like that)
Thanks!

We're sorry about this. We fixed the transparency issue and you can set it to the value you want.
Download the files for the component one more time and use the new SWF file.
The image on your div will be visible now. But first, please check in the Javascript code you copied from our index.html file, that you have this parameter set:
params.wmode = "transparent";
If you have trouble with this, please give us a link to your webpage or send us your files at [email protected] We'll inspect the component on your webpage and figure what the problem might be.

No, the image scaling is not controllable and the component shouldn't stretch the images. I just tested it and I couldn't get it to do that. The images are displayed correctly.
Can you give us a link to your component? We'll take a look at it and see what's going on. Maybe you can send us the files at [email protected], if you don't have a link.
Thanks.
