Countdown Timer

You can use this countdown timer to show the time left until an event happens. This timer has an XML file where you can control the colors. A sound starts playing when the time is almost finished, and the colors change.

Note the time is passed in milliseconds in the flashvars, and uses that to calculate the correct time left, based on the server time, not the user's location.

The zip contains a php file which can determine the remaining time and use that instead. We used a fixed time to show how the countdown works.

We updated the index file. If you want to have the time passed, please uncomment the following code:

                
//flashvars.timeLeft = <?php echo $timerMiliseconds; ?>;

                

And comment:

                
flashvars.timeLeft = 259200000;

                

Also change the extension from .html to .php (make sure you have PHP installed).

One more thing. If you wish to set the expiration date, you can do so in HTML as well, here:

                
$deadline = '2009/09/01 17:15';  // edit doomsday

Hi! Thanks for all your flash products, I adore Search engine ;)
I'm writing because I have some problem with Countdown Timer -> when I'm trying to export movie in flash cs3 i there is always error:

1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: mcItem.

I would be so thankful if you can help me. Oh and sorry for my english, I'm still learning it.

Szymon, in CS3 Flash doesn't know to make the difference between the item name on the stage and the linkage name in the library. I updated the files now so you can download and try again.

1. How do I edit the end time?

First set the end time by editing the line:

$deadline = '2010/04/09 17:15'; // edit doomsday

Secondly uncomment the following code:

//flashvars.timeLeft = <?php echo $timerMiliseconds; ?>;

Then comment:

flashvars.timeLeft = 259200000;

Also change the extension from .html to .php (make sure you have PHP installed on your server).
