Age Validation

This component helps you get confirmation from your users that they are of legal drinking/driving age. It uses shared objects to remember their selection, and if they were validated, the component automatically redirects the users to your website.

You can control the website, the valid age, the components items, as well as much more in the XML file.

For the preview we disabled the checkbox, so that you aren't automatically redirected when you try to view the component.

Note: for this preview I set the age of 21 in the XML. It can easily be adjusted.

The CheckBox is disabled automatically, so that the page isn't automatically redirected to the link set in the XML. It can be enabled in the XML for a real website.

I'm sorry for the late response. Thanks for downloading this component. We'll try to help you with this issue fast.

You mean, you tried to embed the component on multiple pages on your website and the user has to validate the age again and again? I think this can be fixed and we'll try to do it ASAP.

Hi again,

We updated the component. Right now you have the option to remember that a user's age is valid on every page you embedded the component. Or you might want to validate the age on every page you put the component. It's up to you.

If you want this functionality please download the component again and please read the description in the XML file for this tag:

                <rememberForEveryPage>false</rememberForEveryPage>

When i open the Index file it doesnt have the drop down menu's?

Hi,

Do you mean that the dropdown menus appear, but the options don't? Or they don't show up at all?

Maybe you just used the old free preview.swf file. That file is protected and will work only on your local machine. Please download the component again, using the big Download button above and replace the preview.swf file you have right now with the one you'll find in the downloaded zip file (in the project->deploy folder).

If this doesn't solve the problem, please give us a link to your webpage so we can inspect the component. We'll help you with this and give you a solution ASAP.

I am using the project folder from the Big Download Button.

It has Select Birth Year and Date:
then there are No Drop Down Menus at All,

But there is a Rememer Me check box and Enter Button.

I have yet to upload or put it on my site yet, was just fooling around with the original folder first to find out that those Drop Menu Boxes arent showing up.

I looked at the agevalidation.xml and it appears that They do have the drop down age option...etc...

Any other suggestions to why its not showing up?

I understand. There are a couple of reasons for this. Make sure you have these lines in your agevalidation.xml file:

                
<items>
		<item width = "60" height = "28">xml/dropdown_day.xml</item>
		<item width = "120" height = "28">xml/dropdown_month.xml</item>
		<item width = "80" height = "28">xml/dropdown_year.xml</item>
	</items>

                

If you do have them, please check the paths to those three XML files. They have to be correct relative to the pathToFiles flashvar.

You probably noticed noticed in our code, in index.html file we send a flashvar to the component called pathToFiles. Every other path in the project is relative to that path. So make sure that pathToFiles+pathToTheXMLFile is correct.
