AS3 Message Board Guest Book

This is a minimalist and easy to use guest book. It works through XML, which is filled with the information posted by the user, if valid, with the help of a PHP file.

The validation is done based on the type of content the user has to add, such as a name or an email address. The user is requested to fill all fields, and if he tries to submit incomplete information, the strokes color changes based on the value you send in the XML.

The date and time is also filled in the XML, but it's displayed when the user returns to the website, so that there's no need to reload the XML file for every comment submitted, thus saving bandwidth.

File update: we fixed the long names, by cropping them and adding "..." at the end of the strings.

We also tested if the names are not long spaces like this " " and we also removed the spaces behind and after the chars.

Andrei please help. the settings are not right. the "comments on flabel" and "leave a comment" are in the upper left corner. i can't put them in the middle. the settings are not right. i didnt changed anything. And its in the upper left corner.

Not sure what you mean, can you please describe the issue? Note you need to test the file on a server that supports PHP.

If u will double click on the index, u can see it by yourself. the comment is in the upper left corner. i think this is a bug or a mistake... can u fix this please, i payed for it

andrew nevermind, i fixed it. U are right, the php needs to be on the server. if i open it on the computer the message box is in the upper left. On the server it is on the good position. hehehe.

Ok thanks andrei, if u download the message board, and u double click on index, u see that the message board is way to far in the upper left corner. and i tried to change the codes, but it won't work to get it in the middle. Can u please fix it so i can download it again.

Hi,

Thanks for downloading our guest book. I don't understand what you want to do with the "\" character. Can you be more specific? You can display "\" the character in the comments. Also this applies to the apostrophy character, it is displayed in the comments correctly. No backslashes were added.

In what situation do you want to use "\"?

Look :
This comment " je suis l'as des as" appears like this : "je suis l'\as des as". it's very very bad. I dont want some slashes on my comments post.

Do you get what i want to say ?

You were right, we're sorry for the trouble. We fixed this by adding a function in the php file. Download the component again and use the new php file.

You can change the date format in the PHP file. Look at these two lines:

                
<date>'.date('F jS Y').'</date>
<time>'.date('H:i').'</time>

                

and this page can explain what to change:

If you need help with this, just tell how you want the date to be displayed.

Hello,

We made an update for this component. It will set the right color for the text inputs, now. We also removed the colorTextOver attribute in the XML files. The over text feature was useless for the text inputs.
