COMPETITION: Design your own Flabell Product!

We thought it would be good to start a competition that sounds like this:

1. You design your file.

2. We build it.

3. The winner receives a gold ticket which he can use to download his file (or any other file) from Flabell.

4. We’ll promote the winner’s website and specify in the file description who designed it.

You can send all files to [email protected] with the subject: “Design your own Flabell Flash Component!“. We’ll post them on our blog and let users vote.

You can design more files, and each of them can be of any type. You can, for example, design your own website, and you’ll have it built for free as a Flabell Product.

The competition starts now September the 16th, 2009 and ends on November the 16th, 2009. The users will be able to vote for one week (Nov 16th – Nov 23rd), and than hopefully we’ll have a winner!

Note: we reserve the right to reject some files if these don’t meet the following conditions: the design must be minimalist, well thought of (with usability in mind) and vectorial(in Illustrator). The file will be for sale on Flabell, so if you need an unique component, you might not want to submit it to the competition!

Good luck to everyone! :)

The requirements of this competition are Not quite clear.

Does this mean one can submit an FLA file with specifications on how a component should work and what it should do and the Flabell will build the functionality for said component?

That is the only thing that would make sence because if you’re asking contestants to make the component themselves, then what would flabell be building – what is there left to build?

Please clarify.

Wilbur Like Smith, what exactly do you want to be reminded about? We’re using iCal for our events. We too have to many on our hands to remember everything. ;)

Blake, let me reformulate. We’re basically accepting designs in Illustrator, and that’s the only thing one must provide.

It should be clear from there what the functionality needs to be.

Check the designs we provide with our components on Flabell, we’re asking for stuff exactly like that.

Let’s assume you want to build a special player for yourself. You submit it, and you might have the luck to be the chosen product, and then you don’t have to pay someone to do it for you.

Hope it makes sense now.

The competition has expired. Unfortunately no design has been sent, so we collaborated with an australian company (http://www.thefloatingworld.com.au/) who sent us three different designs: a template, an mp3 player and a video player. For this work, we did an interactive Flash website splash page for them.

We’ll release these in the following weeks! :)
